Snow foam is a pre wash detergent that helps break down and remove dirt prior to washing. The thick foam clings onto the dirt and when left to soak slowly drags the dirt off the car. The reason why this is done prior to washing is that you don’t need to apply a wash mitt or sponge to the foam, removing the need to use a sponge and make contact with the paint. This reduces the risk of rubbing fine dirt and grit particles back into the paint when you eventually wash the car with a mitt and shampoo.
To apply the foam you ideally need a snow foam lance, connected to a pressure washer for the best results. If you don’t have a pressure washer you can apply using a pressurised sprayer but you may find it will not give the same level of foam as using a high pressure power washer.
Most foams, are white in colour, but different colour products are also available. The thickness of the foam is generally determined by the mix. More solution, more foam! The thicker the foam the longer it will stay on the car, and by default remove more contaminants.
Once the foam has had sufficient time to soak (approx 10-15 mins) you must rinse off with fresh water, ready for your shampoo wash using the two bucket method.
